If you fly a lot, you’re probably familiar with “The Status Run”. It’s when a Delta SkyMiles Member takes an unnecessary flight toward the end of the year with the goal of racking up points to reach the next status tier. They’re inefficient and time-consuming. So, during Thanksgiving month, we decided to give people an alternative, opening up the Window Seat Shop.

A store let you get a head start on reaching the next status tier by doing what you’d already be doing in preparation for the holidays: shopping.
Found at JFK and filled with sustainable, handcrafted items made by small businesses from all over the world as well as unique, one-of-a-kind experiences, the premise of the store was simple.

Every item purchased put the equivalent amount of MQDs back into people’s SkyMiles accounts.

Within one day of opening,
the online store sold out of all inventory and at JFK, a line wrapped through Terminal 4.
